Privacy Policy

This page consists of a privacy policy statement of the prototype of the hearing aid application (app) that has been installed in Google Play as a private application for testing and development purposes. The publisher of the prototype is Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT). Before using the application, the users will also be provided an informed consent document with details, where consent from the user will be asked in order to use the application.


We (Lappeenranta University of Technology, LUT) provide to you (the User) information about our privacy practices in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms described in this Privacy Policy, please do not access to or use Our Product.

A research group of a research project of Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) creates and develops a hearing aid application to improve the hearing of people with a hearing loss.

This application is a prototype of the hearing aid application. This prototype measures your hearing with a hearing test, after which it processes sound in order to improve your hearing.

Participating in this research and using the prototype is voluntary.


You will be asked your voluntary consent in using Our Product and taking part in Our Research before starting using Our Product. Our Product will not operate unless consent from the User is not received. Our Product does not collect personal information, it collects information that is non-personifiable of the User.

We provide access to our Privacy Policy by linking to it in Our Product.


Possible changes in our Privacy Policy over time will be informed by Us in our Website and Product. You will be informed of changes in the Privacy Policy and asked if you accept the changes in order to continue using Our Product.


Only persons over 15 years old are allowed to use Our Product. We shall not knowingly collect and retain any information from a child under 15 year age. If we identify a Minor attempting to utilize Our Product, he or she will receive a message, which informs that he or she is not eligible for using Our Product and Our Product will stop working.


Our Product (a prototype of a hearing aid application) collects data, that is non-personifiable and users are completely anonymous to the research group.

Following data is collected: device information, the hearing loss of the user and information of the functionality and performance of the application. The age and hearing loss of the user are asked from the user in the hearing test. The data is used to develop and improve the prototype. The data may be used for the needs of the project and possible use after the research project. Data is confidential and the data file is stored in a secured digital premise, access to which is restricted to researchers.

In the case of illegal breaches by third parties in data bases or servers that we use, we shall not be responsible. In such events we shall not be held accountable for damages caused as a result of the illegal use of data.

Data collection is part of the research project, which ends September 30, 2018.
